HUGH MCCANS – NEWCASTLE

I have shot many weddings now at Hugh McCans and the affordability and location can’t be beaten! Newcastle is my favourite place in Northern Ireland and the first glimpse of the mountains on the drive down gives me goosebumps every time!

Set at the bottom of the Sleeve Donnard Mountain, one of Hugh McCans main selling points is the beautiful views and location. Accompanying the views is their cozy guest house next door, the Little Haven, which is perfect for staying over at before and after your wedding day giving you plenty of time to get ready in the morning and not far to travel back after an exciting day of partying and celebration!

The staff are friendly and every wedding I have shot there has run very smoothly and is always beautifully decorated for each wedding. They are licensed to hold ceremonies either indoors or at their secret garden with use of their outdoor cocktail bar and BBQ facilities. The building its self is over 200 years old and has been lovingly restored to its original rustic charm. My favourite feature of this venue is the balcony overlooking the mountains. Shots of you and your guests having fun have never looked so beautiful!

You are spoiled taking your wedding photographs in Newcastle. The closeness of the beach is great for wedding party group shots and couple shots with the mountains behind. The arcades and the fair ground rides provide fun and diverse scenery and there are a few spots easily accessible to  drive into the mountains if you are feeling adventurous enough to head up the Mournes!

Over all Newcastle is hard to beat for your wedding with it’s amazing scenery and diversity of location and photographic options. If you love nature and scenic views Hugh McCans might just be the perfect place for your wedding.
